Master of Education
M.Ed. in Adult and Lifelong Learning
The Adult and Lifelong Learning Master of Education degree is designed to prepare scholar/practitioners for instructional and leadership roles. Coursework focuses on the assessment, design and implementation of educational programs for adult learners. ADLL scholar/practitioners work with specialized groups of adults including those with less than a secondary (high school equivalent) education, adult learners in postsecondary education, participants in educational programs offered by community and nonprofit agencies, and participants in professional education programs.

- Coursework is 100 percent online
- Coursework may be begun in any semester: fall, spring or summer
- GRE or MAT exempt — those test scores are not required for admission
- The ADLL M.Ed. is a non-thesis program
- 33 course credit hours are required
- The degree can be completed in 1.5 to 3 years
- Curricula is structured for either full- or part-time students
ADLL M.Ed. graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
- Assess the educational needs of adult learners in a myriad of learning environments
- Design, implement, evaluate and manage programming for adult learners
- Demonstrate leadership capacity to enhance the organization and administration of adult and lifelong learning initiatives
- Research and evaluate diverse theories, concepts and practices to enhance individual and professional development
ADLL M.Ed. graduates are employed as instructors, coordinators and directors of adult education and lifelong learning programs within adult literacy and general education development, community and nonprofit organizations, extension education, military education, postsecondary education, continuing professional education programs, and leisure learning.
Students pursuing the M.Ed. may also pursue Adult Education Licensure to serve as adult education instructors at state-approved adult education and literacy programs.
